Where
do antler chews come from?
The male gender of deer and elk naturally grow new antlers
each year. These antler are then shed in late winter and
early spring. The shed process occurs approximately during
a 30 to 45 day period. Once the antlers are shed new growth
will begin immediately. Antlers will normally grow larger
each year until the animal’s prime or peak is reached
after which the antler will regress.
The
antlers we use for dog chews are from free ranging wild
deer and elk. After shedding the antlers are collected
then cut into lengths that are appropriate for the various
sizes of dogs. All cut edges are sanded smooth for the
dog’s safety.
Deer and elk antlers naturally vary in color, shape and
size. The antlers you receive may differ from those pictured.

We’ve
yet to find a dog who’s not just crazy about these
healthy dog treats! A few helpful tips:
* As with any other dog treats, we recommend you supervise
your dog, especially at first.
* Make sure the antler dog chew is the right size for
your dog to avoid any choking hazards. We recommend the
following dog chew sizes based on weight of dog.
Small
for 10 to 20 pound dogs
Medium for 20 to 45 pounds dogs
Large for 45 to 70 pound dogs
Extra large 70 to 100 pound dogs
* Make sure your dog minds his manners. Ideally, the
dog should gnaw on the antler dog chew, not aggressively
try to break or tear the dog chew in half. Aggressive
chewing or attacking could damage teeth. As with any
dog chew, supervision should be given.
*
If you are offering the dog chews to or removing from
one or more dogs remember they may be possessive and
fight to protect their dog chew. You may want to separate
your pooches and give or remove each dog chew while
they are apart.
